Therapeutic Group Sessions for Trauma and Abuse Recovery

Recovering from Emotional, Psychological, and Physical Abuse by Antagonistic or Narcissistically Organized Personalities:

Informed by the insights of Dr. Ramani, Gordon Neufeld and various trauma experts, this group focuses on understanding the patterns of abuse and the fallout of this kind of abuse for the abused person. Shame and confusion are often present in these types of relationships. The group sessions aim to normalize the abused person’s reactions and emotions, alleviate shame and provide psychoeducation and support to disengage from the patterns of abuse to stay safe. Bree acknowledges that it may not be possible to fully disengage from these relationships. However, building your sense of self and becoming more grounded in your reality and inner boundaries can support you in harm reduction.

This group runs for 6 sessions and is informed by attachment, trauma and insights into narcissistically organized personalities and patterns of power.  Harness your personal power in relationally safe ways!

4-6 Participants. 6 sessions for $250. Available online.

Breaking the Cycle

Bringing conscious personhood, relationships and parenting into our lives involves understanding our patterns and what we want to do differently. Trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk stated that, “if you feel safe and loved, your brain becomes specialized in exploration, play and cooperation; if you are frightened and unwanted, it becomes specialized in managing feelings of fear and abandonment”  (The Body Keeps Score, pg.56). If the child does not feel loved, the brain makes a sacrifice play and prioritizes survival over development. We cannot rationalize our way out of this: “My parents did their best and had it hard themselves.” This may be true, yet healing is an emotional experience. Grief is often the experience of sinking into and emotionally accepting a part of your reality. Grief is a necessary part of being present, aware and active in your life.

Feeling safe to be vulnerable around other people is something we can work toward together. This group will provide opportunities to be heard, to be understood and to learn how to disrupt the patterns that no longer serve you.

Betrayal Trauma

Being betrayed by a partner is a huge source of grief and often functions to disrupt our sense of safety, emotional regulation and even the way we view the world and everyone living in it. Betrayal can take many forms, including infidelity, porn addiction or other addictive or acting out behaviours. Whether you are coping with a betrayal post relationship or are attempting to heal from within the relationship, this group provides a framework for processing and understanding your emotional responses and struggles.
